Something new
Today is Sunday. I haven't done a whole lot today, aside from looking for a church to attend while I'm here in Oakland for the summer. It's difficult for me to be picky about where I attend church because I don't have my car up here with me. This morning I went out to look, and only found two churches within walking distance. One was an Ethiopian Orthodox Church, and while it looked lovely, it didn't seem like I would be comfortable there, seeing as I am white and not Orthodox! *^_^* I have settled upon the beautiful church right at the bottom of my hill, First Covenant Church. I researched their website, and while it isn't as conservative as I am familiar with, I believe that it'll be just fine for me to attend until Chapel opens again in the fall.
I love the campus of the FCC, it's up in the trees just like HNU is where I live and there are gorgeous stained glass windows just like my church at home. I figure, Christians everywhere believe in Jesus and fellowshipping with him, so it's okay for me to explore a different denomination for awhile. I'm not going to leave the Catholic church just yet; my adventure into the Covenant Church is out of circumstance. I could take the bus to Saint Elizabeth's, but I am trying to save money, plus I've heard it isn't in the best part of town. I am looking forward to branching out into another church's zone for the time being. Wish me luck!
